Meal Plan Guidelines

  1. Food and beverages cannot be shared. The price of the meal and beverage is based on a single serving. The Food Service Staff monitors the dining area and enforces these guidelines. If you are caught sharing or giving your food or beverage to others, you will be warned. If caught a second time, your meal privilege will be suspended until you make an appointment and visit with the Director of Food Service. The third time will be handled on an individual basis with a suspension of meal privileges.
    • Sharing of card or food:
      • There will be penalties for sharing.
1 st offense - you will receive one warning.
2 nd offense - your privileges will be suspended until you speak to Paula Swope, Director of Food Service.
    • If sharing continues, you could lose your privileges permanently.

  2. Identification Card: You must present your Meal Plan Identification Card each time you go through the line. Either plan allows you to eat from any or all stations. You may go back once for additional food and beverage if you are still hungry. Your meal plan card will need to be swiped for a second time. You are allowed to take your beverage out of the dining area when you leave. If you refill your beverage before leaving, have your meal plan card swiped again. Food cannot be carried out of the dining area. If you need a sack lunch or if you only have a very short time between classes to eat, you will need to bring a schedule to the Front Office and see Linda Wageman for approval. You will need to have your card swiped to pick-up your meal. Punching Holes in Card: Holes may be punched in the card on the opposite side of the bar. Please DO NOT attach the card to a key ring with more than three keys. This makes it difficult to swipe through the register.

  3. The evening and breakfast meals have the same guidelines. If you have a job in the evenings and are unable to eat at the specified times, a letter from your employer is needed to allow you to have a sack lunch or a to-go container. You will need to bring this letter to Linda Wageman at the Front Office for verification.

  4. There is a code of conduct that needs to be followed in the Department of Food Service.
    • No shirt, No shoes, No service
    • No vulgar or abusive language will be allowed
    • No fighting or verbal altercations will be allowed

  5. The serving area in the Department of Food Service is buffet style. Consequently, when you are finished with your meal, please take your tray to the dish room line for disposal. Please do not leave your dirty dishes for others to clean up. There are customers that may want to sit in the place you have just vacated and you should leave it clean and picked up.

  6. Any suggestions, problems, or concerns should be addressed to Linda Wageman at the Front Office. The department welcomes suggestions.

  7. Missed meals cannot be made up. You can only eat during designated hours. You are required to have your ID card swiped each time you eat in the cafeteria.

  8. If you lose your card, you will be able to eat for one day without your card. You will need to have a new card issued from the Informational and Technology Department which will cost $10. To obtain a replacement card, go to the Cashier’s Window and pay the $10. You then take the receipt to the Informational and Technology Department to have your picture taken and a new card issued. Once complete, the Informational and Technology Department sends the Food Service Department a list each morning of new cards issued. Food Service will validate your card once the list is received so you can use the new card. If you find your old card, throw it away! The computer system automatically deletes card one and validates card two. Remember that once you report your card stolen or lost, you will never be able to use that card again.

  9. You will be given one week after classes start to have your picture ID taken and your meal plan validated. Until that time, you may eat if your name is on the list of students that are residing in the residence hall or suites. After one week, you will not be allowed to eat without your ID.

  10. If you leave the residence hall, your meal plan is not valid. You may continue with the meal plan, but arrangements for payment must be made with the Accounting Department. Your meal plan money will be refunded to you on a prorated basis.

  11. The Department of Food Service has the right to refuse service to any individual that is abusive to staff or other students.
