This course will provide a comprehensive look at prevalent oral conditions and concerns. Included in this program is information to help your patients achieve oral health and understand the connection to their systemic health. Silver Diamine Fluoride: What? Why? When?

Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) has shown in clinical trials to arrest and prevent dental caries. SDF has been recently cleared by the Food and Drug Administration for reducing tooth sensitivity. Dr. Ryan Hajek will explore all aspects of this agent rational, indications, techniques, benefits, risks, and alternatives. Expanded Functions for Dental Assistants

This program expands the scope of practice for a dental assistant. It includes initial assessment to determine the base entry level of all participants; didactic component; lab component if necessary; clinical component, which must be obtained under the personal supervision of the participant's supervising dentist while the participant is concurrently enrolled in the program; and post-course competency assessment at the conclusion of the program. The class will meet 3 Saturdays: 10/14/17 from 8am-6pm, 10/21/17 from 8am-6pm, and 10/28/17 from 8am-6pm. This program is taught by Jill Day, CDA, CPFDA and meets the Iowa Dental Board requirements. Approved for 28 continuing education contact hours for dental professionals. Fee $699
