Auto Dealer: Buy Here Pay Here

The class will provide dealers who operate or are considering the establishment of a buy here pay here dealership with an overview of policies, procedures, law, rule and regulation that are required to be followed by Iowa BHPH dealerships. FTC guidelines and requirements for dealer advertising will be shared. Updated information from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau - CFPB - will be provided. Attendees will become familiar with forms used in buy here pay here operations. A review of Iowa Code Chapter 321, 322 and Iowa Code 537, the Iowa Consumer Credit Code, will enhance the dealer's understanding of law and rule in Iowa as it pertains to dealership operations. Various updates of law, rule and regulation at both the state and federal level will be given to class attendees. Dealers will learn about the "hot topics" that regulators are investigating regarding BHPH dealers. Fee $159

Auto Dealer: Environmental, Health, and Safety Compliance

The class will provide assistance to motor vehicle dealers who have a service department, body shop, and motor vehicle dealer's license as well as a recycler's license. Areas covered will include rule, regulation and law pertaining to requirements under the EPA, DNR, and OSHA and other agencies and departments who regulate the auto industry. Updates of state and federal rule, law and regulation will be provided as well as 2015 legislative updates. Fee $159

Auto Dealer: The Nuts, The Bolts, The Basics

This class will provide legislative updates from the 2015/2016 Iowa legislative session relevant to motor vehicle dealers. Updates to state and federal law, rule, and regulation will be provided. This class will review and refresh attendees on motor vehicle dealer license laws and rules as they pertain to Iowa Code Chapter 321, 321H, 322 including title and registration requirements. Updates from various Iowa governmental departments and agencies will be provided such as Iowa Department of Revenue, Insurance and Regulated Industries division of the Iowa Department of Commerce, and Iowa Attorney General's Office of Consumer Protection. The class will provide enhanced information on advertising requirements and other motor vehicle dealer rules and regulations as required by the FTC and other agencies. Attendees will become familiar with all state and federal agencies and departments who have regulatory capacity over motor vehicle dealers and how dealers can become compliant. Fee $159

Electrical Maintenance Certificate

Get the basics and get moving in a career in Electrical Maintenance. The Electrical Maintenance Certificate program prepares students for entry level careers as electrical equipment installation and repair technicians in a variety of industries. The program was developed in response to industry needs for technicians with a basic understanding of the general concepts that govern complex electronic systems. This program is designed for students intending to enter the workforce upon completion of this one-semester certificate. This program prepares students for entry-level careers as electrical equipment installation and repair technicians in a variety of industries. Entry level earnings for these jobs are $32,000 or $15.50/hr. Students who wish to complete an advanced degree may continue on to the Electrical Engineering Technology program and earn an Associate of Applied Science degree. Electrical Safety/ Arc Flash

This electrical safety seminar will increase the awarenss of safety issues for individuals who work on or near energized electrical equipment. Discussions in this course will include the different types of electrical hazards and the injuries that can result from those hazards, the importance of maintaining electrical equipment and cords, and the dangers associated with electrical shock and arc flash. This class is approved for 6 electrical non-code continuing education hours for Iowa. Fee $219

Industrial Safety/OSHA/Forklift/CPR/1st Aid

The Industrial Safety Certificate is designed to ensure participants entering logistics, manufacturing and industrial positions have the skills and abilities employers want. This program includes 10 hours of OSHA, Forklift/Electric Pallet operation and safety (hands-on), certification in CPR and First Aid, Shop Math and an overview about the job and duties of workers in the logistics and manufacturing field. All are assets when it comes to getting a job. Employers look for workers who are reliable, punctual and safety-minded, with a strong work ethic. Median hourly earnings for logistics (material handler, dock worker, laborer) and manufacturing (production line, assembler) workers is $12.39/hour to $13.74/hour(source EMSI). Workers may rise to forklift operator, supervisory positions or to specialty positions in their department or within the company. The Home Inspection Online Training Program covers the principal components of home inspection procedures and processes. You'll learn how to create a home inspection report that will detail the home's condition, including the heating and cooling systems, the plumbing and electrical systems, the roof and siding, and the framing and foundation.

This program is for you if you’re contemplating a career in home inspections. It’s also beneficial for those involved in residential appraisals, residential construction, or related businesses.

HVACR Certified Technician

The HVACR Certified Technician program is a unique, all-inclusive online training that encompasses heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration.

The program is structured to provide an instruction on the skills necessary to installers and technicians who are either new to the industry or planning on expanding their knowledge and skills to advance in the industry.

This program is truly all-encompassing, because as a part of your tuition, you will receive paid exam vouchers to take exams that lead to the most significant industry certifications.

As a part of the program, you will receive vouchers for the following exams:

  • EPA 608 Refrigerant Handling Exam
  • R-410A Refrigerant Handling Qualification  
    Inclusion of card and certificate for refrigerant accreditation
  • Your choice of Excellence or NATE certification tracks:*
    • Stage 1 Certification Exams: HVAC Excellence Work Ready Exams or NATE Service Core
    • Stage 2 Certification Exams: HVAC Excellence AC (specialty exam) or NATE AC Service Level  (EPA specialty exam)
