Leadership Opportunities

College is a critical time for students to experience personal, social, and professional growth. Leadership experiences of college students enhance their learning experiences, as well as to their personal development.

Phi Theta Kappa

Students who have taken at least 12 hours of college-level credit and achieved a GPA of at least 3.5 are invited to become members of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society of the Two-Year College. In addition to being outstanding students, members of Phi Theta Kappa serve as role models at school and in the community through their involvement in service projects such as park and highway clean-ups, Relay for Life, food drives, and book drives. Officers of Phi Theta Kappa are elected by their fellow members and represent the society as well as IWCC every year at the Phi Theta Kappa International Convention.

There are many scholarship opportunities for members, including transfer scholarships to several four-year universities. Please contact Susannah Go at (712) 325-3316 for more information.

Leadership Academy Scholarship

This scholarship is offered to outstanding current IWCC students that have demonstrated leadership availabilities on campus. Academy Leaders participate in leadership development trainings, Student Activities Board, and a variety of college-sponsored events. They also serve as student leaders for New Student Orientation.

Applications are accepted in the fall semester each year. Please contact Abigail Berthold at (712) 325-3294 for more information about the Leadership Academy or to receive an application. Application deadlines and reminders will also be posted in the IWCC News Announcements.
