New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation (NSO)

NSO is for students entering Iowa Western Community College. We know that college is an exciting and challenging time in your life, and our Orientation program is designed to help make the transition to college easier for you. Last year over 1000 students attended NSO!

At New Student Orientation you will...

  • meet other incoming students
  • have the opportunity to interact with staff and current students
  • learn about academic support services, student involvement and recreation opportunities, and general tips on how to make the most of your college experience at Iowa Western
  • ask last-minute questions and check things off of your college "to-do list," such as pick up your pre-ordered books, find your classes, sign-up for a parking permit, or get your student ID
  • receive necessary college information including a IWCC backpack with student planner and handbook

NSO Registration Steps

    1. Register for classes with an admissions advisor.
    2. Make an NSO Reservation

    3. Be sure to enter your email address information correctly, as you will receive an automated email confirming your registration.
    4. Approximately two weeks prior to your scheduled orientation date, you will receive your IWCC NSO packet in the mail. You may also receive an electronic version of the NSO packet by email depending on when you register.
