What do I do at Iowa Western?
I’ve been at Iowa Western for five years now, starting in the Admissions office. I am presently an Enrollment Advisor and help new and current students get registered for classes, set up financial aid or payment arrangements and get everything they need to start a successful semester at Iowa Western. I also get to help students who are eligible for Work Study find jobs on campus.
IWCC Stuff
Favorite IWCC Student Story:
I love attending the International Fair and learning about other cultures. Mary Lusajo organizes events for Intercultural and International programs. The events are educational and a lot of fun and allow our campus to show off all the diversity. At the International Fair last year, I learned how to spell my name in Russian and Chinese!
Favorite IWCC Moment:
My favorite moment was when I attended the first Reiver football game. It was so exciting, the stands were packed with Reiver Blue wearing fans who cheered on our team throughout the whole game. The first football game had such a great turnout that the concessions stands ran out of things to sell and people had to make a trip to get more. I think they learned from that experience and now pack the concessions full of goodies to accommodate the massive crowd.
IWCC Insider Tip:
Be aware of where you can and cannot park on campus. The security officers take this very seriously and will write you a ticket if you are in the wrong places. Don’t even park on the Yellow lines, or you’ll get a $25 parking ticket!
Favorite Link:
I like to visit the Arts Center web site at http://artscenter.iwcc.edu/. They sponsor some great performances! Students can attend IWCC performance for free and any of the touring, professional performances for just $5. You can also check out the IWCC Theatre performances at this web site, I’ve attended several, and they are excellent.
Fun Stuff
What could you not live without?
I love my DVR player! I can record my favorite shows and watch them when I have time. I would hate to miss the Big Bang Theory!
Community Service Involvement:
This was my second year participating on the IWCC Relay for Life Team. I enjoy doing volunteer work and giving back to the community. I helped teach pre-school students at Vacation Bible School this summer. It was great seeing how much fun the kids had!
Hobbies and Interests:
• Line-dancing
• Spending time with my grandkids, Taylor and Alex
• Family reunions! This year we had fun in the sun in the Ozarks.
Favorite Sports Teams:
I divide my loyalties between the Huskers and the Cyclones!
