What do I do at Iowa Western?
I have two roles here at IWCC. I am an Admissions Advisor and Recruiter. I get to help students plan out the classes that will lead them into their future as well as recruit students to attend IWCC! As a former student of IWCC, I can first hand say that college and classes can look a bit overwhelming but with the help of an advisor you feel at ease.

IWCC Stuff

Favorite IWCC Student Story:
When I first came to IWCC, I thought the campus was going to be small because it is a community college. Boy, I was wrong! IWCC’s campus feels more like a four-year university. The faculty and staff are very friendly and eager to go the extra mile to help students, and they did for me. In order to graduate on time I needed one more literature class but it wasn’t offered during my last semester and a few other students were in the same boat. So, Dr. Linda Schmidt arranged a two-week literature class which allowed us to graduate that summer. IWCC really went above and beyond to help me succeed.

Favorite IWCC Moment:
I attended IWCC from fall of 2006 to summer of 2008. I am really excited to be back at IWCC and switch my role from student to Admissions Advisor/Recruiter. I am excited to give advice and support to students just as I was given while I was in school here.

IWCC Insider Tip:
Five words: buy books ahead of time! The books always sell out fast and there is nothing worse than sitting in your first day of class and not having the book. The college store offers the option to pre-order books online well before the semester, so there is no excuse for not having your books.

Favorite Link:
One thing I found very stressful during college was figuring out where to transfer to after I graduated with my Associate’s Degree. Our Transfer Planning pages will help you decide where to transfer to as well as make the transition a smooth one.

Fun Stuff

What could you not live without?
I do not know what I would do without Netflix. As a college student I wasn’t able to splurge on cable, but Netflix was only $9 a month and I could watch any movie or TV show instantly! Without Netflix I would have gone crazy watching a fuzzy TV screen!

Community Service Involvement:
While I attended high school and college, I was a 4th-5th-6th grade Sunday school teacher at my church. I also volunteer at my church’s annual dinner.

Hobbies and Interests:
- Hunting and fishing
- Camping/spending time outdoors
- Spending time with my family/friends
- Shopping with my big sister
- Spoiling my cat, Louie V and my dog, CPizzle

Favorite Sports Teams:
I am a husker fan (Go BIG RED) and a cheese head (Go GREEN BAY PACKERS)!!
