Everyone who volunteers at Iowa Western
has his or hers own reasons for doing so. Some of our volunteers
donate a few hours each month, while others are at the college lending
a hand much more often. It all depends on their schedules and lifestyles.
But the one thing all of our volunteers tell us is they definitely
get something in return for their time.

The Volunteer Opportunities and Projects
No matter what your interests are, Iowa Western most likely has a volunteer opportunity for you. Choose from a variety of projects and opportunities, such as:
- Providing leadership by being an advisory board member
- Performing clerical tasks

- Assisting at the job fair

Who Volunteers at Iowa Western?
Iowa Western's volunteers come in all shapes and sizes, with various talents, interests and backgrounds. And they help out with everything from campus tours to college beautification projects to singing in the community chorus (but not all at the same time). Our volunteers care about people. They care about the future too, and they want to make our world a better place for tomorrow's leaders.
Our volunteers aren't the type of people who sit back and watch things happen... They're too busy making things happen! They have a lot of energy, a lot of heart and a lot to offer.
Whoever they are, two things are certain... They are making a difference at Iowa Western Community College and they are very much appreciated!
Some Facts About Iowa Western
Iowa Western Community College is a comprehensive two-year college located in southwest Iowa. The college has more than 80 college credit programs, an extensive continuing education department, a small business development center, an international business institute and a career center for students and the public.
A variety of collegiate activities abound. Athletes can choose form baseball, basketball, softball, and volleyball. Other campus activities like concerts, comedians and intramural sports are scheduled throughout the year.
About 3,600 credit-earning students enroll each semester. The college is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Students planning to enter a four-year institution will find their credits transfer easily to many schools in the region. With an average student age of 25, Iowa Western provides training for students just out of high school, those coming back after a few years in the work force and adult students making a career change.
The college offers a wide variety of services and support to its students to help ensure their success. These services include personal counseling, career assessment and guidance, job placement, developmental classes and vocational rehabilitation.
Iowa Western has campuses located in Clarinda and Council Bluffs, and operates educational centers in Atlantic, Harlan, and Shenandoah.
