Program Information
The Automotive Technology program of study is designed to prepare students to become proficient, entry-level automotive technicians. Students desiring to enter this high-tech profession can take advantage of the training offered in all eight of the A.S.E certification areas to acquire the skills needed to succeed. Instruction includes a wide variety of theory classes and up-to-date practical experience.
Career Opportunities
- One out of every ten jobs in the United States is dependent on the automotive industry.
- No other industry is linked to so much manufacturing or generates more retail business and employment.
- Automotive service technicians and mechanics held approximately 818,000 jobs in 2002.
- Employment of automotive service technicians and mechanics is expected to increase about as fast as the average (10-20%) through the year 2012. This amounts to 82,000 - 164,000 new jobs between 2002-2012.

The Automotive program's daily class schedule allows time for some employment; internships are available for qualified students at certain points in the program of study.
The Facility
The Automotive Technology program is located in newly renovated Dodge Hall. Bright, spacious, well-equipped automotive classrooms, labs, and shop facilities greatly enhance the student's learning epxerience. Dodge Hall also features a 70-seat auditorium, computer lab, and cutting edge technology in its many spacious program-specific and general purpose classrooms and laboratories.
