Get Involved
Here on the Council Bluffs Campus of Iowa Western Community College, we have a proud tradition of activities for all students. Some events are annual and others are created by the Student Senate. If you have an idea for an event, please contact the Student Activities Coordinator in the Student Center. Make sure to keep informed of the events by utilizing your Student Handbook/Planner. Need a Handbook/Planner? Stop by the Student Center for your free copy!

Fun
Student Government
Student Government at Iowa Western is better known as Student Senate which is designed to promote the welfare of the college in a democratic fashion and to facilitate communication among the student body, the faculty, and the administration. The Student Senate meets monthly in the Student Center. If you wish to become involved, contact the Student Activities Coordinator.
Fall Student Senate Picnic
How does a free lunch sound? Each fall the Student Senate has a picnic outside the cafeteria for all students. You can enjoy a BBQ style lunch and compete in games like the human joust or bungee run. This is a great event for you to meet more IWCC students and staff.
Athletic Sporting Events
Student Senate sponsors activities at the different athletic events. Such activities include: Fear Factor Iowa Western style, costume contests, body painting and handing out free stuff during the games.
Opportunities To Give Back
Red Cross Blood Mobile
As a college created for the community, we take great pride in giving back. Blood mobiles are offered several times during the school year in the Student Center. Giving blood only takes about an hour…and helps save a life. Don’t forget to bring a government issued photo identification card.
Opportunities To Learn
Development Hours
Development Hours are held two times in the fall and spring semesters. Classes are dismissed for an hour to allow all students to attend. You’ll find that the topics are very relevant to your life. Development Hours are normally held in the Kanesville Arena.
Job Fairs
Need a job but don’t know where to look? Well look no further
IWCC has two job fairs. The annual Part-time Job Fair is held
each October in the Student Center. Over twenty-five local businesses
attend to recruit IWCC students. The annual Community Job Fair is
held in April in the Kanesville Arena. Over 60 businesses attend to
recruit IWCC students and community members.
Transfer Fair
Student Activities and Student Support Services co-sponsor this fair each year during the fall semester. Over 20 4-year institutions attend to recruit and inform IWCC students about their schools.
