What do Pharmacy Technicians do?
Pharmacy Technicians play a crucial role in keeping a pharmacy running smoothly. Pharmacy Technicians work in several settings that range from standard pharmacies and drugstores to hospitals, grocery stores, physicians’ clinics, mail-order pharmacies, compounding centers, and nuclear medicine pharmacies.
Safely assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications. You will build trust through your interactions with the client to help improve their well-being.
Be prepared for Certification, Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Exam (PTCB).
Tasks to include but not limited to, as responsibilities will vary depending on place of employment.
- Accurately and efficiently preparing prescription orders
- Verifying prescription information and dosage
- Entering patient and order information into the pharmacy system
- Assist in formulating, labeling, and dispensing medications.
- Processing and submitting insurance claims
- Providing quality customer service to patients and other healthcare providers
- Compounding medications- facility specific
Pharmacy Technicians can obtain additional certifications with experience.

The main purpose of our online Pharmacy Technician program is to prepare you to successfully pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam and become employable—competent and confident—as quickly as possible.
To that end, you’ll spend a large chunk of time in an actual pharmacy. Thanks to our partnerships with Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy, your Pharmacy Technician program includes clinical hours at locations nationwide, based on local availability. You’ll complete this portion by the time you finish training. That’ll cement your pharmacy technician skills and smooth your transition from training to working.
