About the Program
Iowa Western offers the State of Iowa (BOEE)approved, Substitute Authorization course. This training allows an individual to substitute for any class in K-12 institutions throughout the state of Iowa. This is a 2-day training offered one weekend per month, nearly every month.

Requirements Before Starting
Students must possess one of the following:
- A Current Paraeducator Certificate
- 60 completed units of college classes
- A Post-Secondary Degree of AA, AS, Bachelors, or higher
Mandatory Requirements during the application process include:
- Mandatory Background Check
- Mandatory Reporter/Child Abuse Training
- Fingerprinting
- 2 Hours of Classroom Practicum
