Federal Work-Study and Student Employment

Iowa Western does not assign students jobs. Students can search for jobs on the Employment Opportunities website.  Students may be paid through the Federal Work-Study Program (FWS) or Student Employment. Students are paid bi-monthly through direct deposit.

Federal Work-Study

Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a financial aid program that offers hourly employment to students on campus. Federal financial aid dollars fund the Federal Work-Study program. As an employment program, students are paid for the hours they work. Students are not paid to study.

To be awarded Federal Work-Study, a student must:

  • Demonstrate financial need by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year.
  • Eligible for Federal Work-Study on financial aid award notification.
  • Remain in good financial aid standing.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.

Positions are limited and many jobs are on a first-come basis.

Student Employment

Student Employment at Iowa Western is a program that allows full or part-time students an opportunity to work on campus. The Student Employment program gives students the ability to independently search, apply, and interview for a job on campus via the Employment Opportunities website.

To be eligible for Student Employment, a student must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or International (F1), student.
  • Be a current full- or part-time student.
  • Maintain good academic standing within the institution.
