Program Information

The Management & Human Resources Certificate program of study is designed to develop entry-level supervisory, managerial, and personnel resource skills. Students develop a basic foundation in applicable business, supervision, and fundamental management skills. Human relations, accounting, marketing, teams, quality fundamentals, problem solving, electronic commerce, communications, and specialized areas of employee training and evaluation, compensation, and benefits are intended to provide a background to enhance an individual's success as a supervisor or personnel officer in business and industry. This certificate may be used as a foundation for a Management & Human Resources Diploma.

Students who complete this certificate will earn credit toward completion of the Management & Human Resources diploma and the Management & Human Resources AAS degree.

What will you do

Managers get work done through others. They lead employees and the organizations they work for. As a manager, your job is to plan, organize, lead, and control the daily schedule of employees and of the business, including interviewing, hiring, and coordinating employees. You may create and coordinate budgets, and collaborate with and report to upper management in a company. There are a variety of positions and functions within the management umbrella that students can pursue after earning a management credential.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Human Resources (HR) specialists recruit, screen, interview, and place workers. They also handle employee relations, compensation and benefits, and training. With a company’s employees arguably being its most valuable asset, students holding a human resources credential are better prepared to contribute to the ongoing success of a company through the important job of working with its employees.
