Youth Summer Camps & High School Discovery Days

Iowa Western Community College will host students in grades 5th -12th grades for Summer Camps and Discovery Days in June and July!  Summer Camps and Discovery Days are offered on all sorts of topics for students including:  Art, Automotive, Aviation Maintenance, CDL, Choir, Culinary, Diesel Mechanics, EMS/Health, E-Sports, Girls in the Trades, Math, Nursing, Outdoor, Robotics, Trades, Welding and more!

Camps and Discovery Days are hosted at IWCC’s Council Bluffs, Cass County, Missouri Valley, Shelby County and Clarinda Center locations and will include fun, friends, and hands-on learning!  Full day offerings begin a $30 per day and include lunch.

Put Science, technology, engineering, and math to practical us in building, programming, and problem-solving with VEX Robotics! This two day interactive camp will incorporate teamwork and skill building to take your VEX knowledge to the next level. This program is open to individuals who will be in 9th-12th grade during the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. Registrations close a week before class start date.

Day 1 - Construction
Campers will learn about construction materials and methods and how to plan and safely manage a construction project. There will be hands-on experience opportunities, and each participant will use and practice their learned skills throughout the camp while working together to build a construction project.                

Day 2 - Welding
Learn safety techniques and basic welding skills in this interactive camp. Campers will learn welding safety, the different types of welding, and basic fabrication.

This program is open to individuals who will be in 6th - 8th grade during the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. Registrations close a week before class start date.

July 30th & 31, 2024 8:30am-4:00pm T/W
Join the fun at the IWCC Council Bluffs campus for this 2 day disc golf and outdoor adventures program! Participants will spend their mornings out on the disc gold range learning fundamentals, skills, and teamwork. Participants will then spend their afternoons engaged in a variety of hands on outdoor activities! This program includes a $15 fee for a disc golf and disc marker that students will own.

This program is open to individuals who will be in 6th - 12th grade during the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. Registrations close a week before class start date.

Mix it, melt it, make it wiggle! Campers participating in this food-based chemical adventure will have a day filled with experiments that use edible ingredients! This program is open to individuals who will be in 5th grade during the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. Registrations close a week before class start date.

Refunds: You may cancel your registration 5 business days prior to the start of the class date and receive a 100% refund excluding the $50 non-refundable processing fee. If contacting outside Iowa Western Community College’s Continuing Education Department business hours, leave a voicemail and or send the department an email. Iowa Western’s Continuing Education is not responsible for refunds if contact is not pursued via voicemail and or email. In compliance with the IWCC policy, refunds will only be produced in the form of a check. A check will be issued within 14 business days after the refund is admitted to the customer. Refund will be sent to the customer’s address that is on file. Certain program restrictions may apply. Contact Continuing Education for more details at ce@iwcc.edu.

Cancellations: Iowa Western reserves the right to cancel any class where difficulties arise in staffing or scheduling or where a minimum enrollment is not achieved. A full refund will be issued for all canceled classes.

Transfers/Withdrawals: Transfers may be subject to $25.00 transfer fee. Non-attendance for a class does not constitute a withdrawal and refunds are not issued for non-attendance. Transfers may be made up to two full business days (unless otherwise noted in the class information) prior to the start date of the class. After that time, transfers will not be permitted and no refund will be issued.
